Voting systems
Single choice, approval, ranked choice, weighted, basic.
A proposal uses one voting system. A space can set one for every proposal, or let each author pick.
| System | How people vote | How the result reads |
|---|---|---|
| Single choice | One option. | The option with the most power leads. |
| Approval | Any number of options they support. | Each option gets the full power of everyone who picked it. |
| Ranked choice | Options in order of preference. | The last option is eliminated each round, its votes moving to the next choice, until one has a majority. |
| Weighted | Their power spread across options, in shares. | Each option gets the shares voters gave it. |
| Basic | For, Against or Abstain. | Passes when the quorum is reached and For beats Against. |
Basic votes
Basic is the only system with a pass or fail rule: a closed basic proposal reads Passed or Rejected. The other systems show the option that leads.
Spaces may also set Quadratic in Settings, and Raad's ballot votes on it.
Changing your mind
Whatever the system, you can change your vote while it is open. See Voting with your wallet.
